Being a startup founder is hard.
Like really hard.
I mean, really, really, hard!
Forget the hype stories about the kid that had an idea and made $20M in 6 months.
Stop comparing yourself to the tiny minority that have built billion dollar companies from scratch.
Reject the idea that every startup just has to raise enough money to succeed (or that raising money means you’ve already won)
And most importantly, BIN the idea that if you build, they will come.. because they sure as hell won’t!
There are so many common misconceptions when it comes to running a startup that it can often feel like you’re the only one struggling, but the opposite is true.
I speak to founders all the time who spend days, weeks, months and even years, struggling to get their idea off the ground, find product market fit, and turn the whole thing into a viable business.
All the while, every one of them trying to find people whose advice they can trust. Whether they need help with development, sales, marketing, hiring, scaling the team or the tech, the list of problems is endless.
Sadly, the amount of advice out there is also endless, and a lot of it, while very well-intentioned, comes from a place of ignorance.
The simple fact is, that most people don’t know a 10th of what goes on when you’re starting out to build a SaaS company, and so the advice that they give, is often detrimental to the very founders they’re trying to help.
The only people who truly know (most of it anyway) are other founders. The people who’ve stood where you’re standing, who’ve trod the path you’re on, and who’ve been through the pain and suffering caused by stupid and avoidable mistakes
That’s why TheStartupFoundersClub was born.
The StartupFoundersClub is a place for founders to share their experiences, tips, tricks, wins, losses, and horror stories to allow the next founders along to learn from OTHER people’s mistakes.
Founders are invited to contribute their stories, write about their journey, talk publicly about what they’re doing (and how it’s going) and most importantly, share the stories that have taught you what NOT to do.
So if you’re still here and reading, please Register for the site. Feel free to lurk around, read other people’s experience and when you’re ready, contribute your own article. We’d love to have you, and to learn from your experience as well.
